Is Serene from Clayton’s season actually an Elementary School Teacher?

Yes, Serene started teaching second grade in 2020. We’re not going to link our evidence because her employer hasn’t been reported elsewhere, so you’re just going to have to trust us on this.

Serene does not have a teaching certificate—as is usually required in Oklahoma—but was given an emergency exemption due to staffing shortages.

Underfunding and lack of support and resources in America’s public schools has led to poor teacher retention across the country, with Oklahoma City being no exception.

Oklahoma has granted record numbers of emergency teaching exemptions over the past five years. These only last two years unless the recipient shows that they are making progress towards earning their teaching certification.

Serene’s two years are almost up. We don’t know whether Serene plans to pursue her certification and return to the classroom post-Bachelor like Michelle or if she might use the added visibility from the show to bolster her former career.

What did Serene do before teaching?

Serene was—and still is—a working print model.

Here are some choice shots from her portfolio at Wilhelmina Models Denver:

She’s done a commercial.

Has been a cover girl.

And she pulls off blonde hair a lot better than one of the other models we’ve recently seen on the franchise.

(Serene is on the left.)

Like many other Bachelor and Bachelorette hopefuls, Serene studied broadcasting in college, so she may be looking for hosting work as well.

We hope to see more of Serene on our screen (as long as she doesn’t get roped into hosting any of those awful Bachelor group therapy dates like Nick Viall).
